Nearly Silent Saturday....

...or Friday, or whenever I feel like posting it...

The first quilt I want to post on Etsy. Looooove the colors/fabrics used! When I washed it the edges got crazy wrinkly though. I don't like that. Thinking of not selling it because I'm a perfectionist. Opinions?

Continued from last Saturday... This is the table runner I made for my boss for Christmas! It looks great on her table, but proved impossible to get a decent picture of.

Some mirror-image mittens I crocheted for my boy. I couldn't find any mittens that were actually long enough to cover his wrists. Problem solved. 2 pairs are in the works right now for my Etsy shop! I'm hoping to sell the pattern if/when I ever finish writing it so it makes sense to more than just me.

I made this handbag and the one below a while ago. Notice the grass? *sigh* I miss you sunshine! I want to list these on Etsy as well. I'll get to it. I love the mix of beautiful fabrics & quilting, crochet, and wood!

Flex frame pouches 0, Delainie 1. Took me a while, but I figured out how to do these right finally. Not sure why I made that so difficult before! By request I made the latest ones with blues, greens, and black, trying to be as ungirly as possible. Guitars and wheels man up the flowers right? Available here.

The rest of my time has been spent with this little dude lately. He is loving the snow. Whose kid is this? I could've swore he is mine... Proving snow-hating is not hereditary.

Wipe out! Snow is a lot more fun with him around. :)

It's Tuesday and you ain't got shit to do...

I hate the word "ain't", yet sometimes I can't stop myself from saying it. I love the word "shit", for so many reasons. It's just so ... useable. It's my day off and I'm once again in hibernation mode. I feel a sickness coming on. By tomorrow I hope I can breathe. At the moment I'm thinking tomorrow will not be good. So as much as I tried to lay low and relax today, I of course trashed my living room with a mess of fabric and sewing stuff. Why is it that my own messes don't bother me, yet everyone else's do? In the words of my twin sis... I don't annoy me.

It's official. I'm obsessed with frame purses. I have made a ton of them so far and spent a small fortune on more frames that are being shipped from Thailand right now. I satisfied my urge to make more purses while waiting for my shipment, by picking up a couple clutches that were on clearance at some random mall store. Lucky for me these clutches were put together so shitty that I merely pulled the purse out of the frame with very little effort and didn't have to mess with any glue removal or anything. Score! Inspired by my Slapdash Scrappies Wallets I whipped up this gorgeous and funky clutch of my very own! I'm loving the color combos and the versatility. I can't stop looking it it. It's a freakin fantastic clutch. That said... check out it's innards:

That's 8 card pockets, a lined zippered pocket, an open pocket, and 9 different fabrics!!I'm so damn proud I can't stop staring at it. So after making one, cleaning up all of my mess, posting it all over to show it off and blah blah blah, I got everything out again and made another equally fantastic clutch! I used basically the same fabrics, just in different combinations. I just need to photograph it tomorrow and get it listed. Now I'm back to impatiently waiting for the other frames I ordered. I may have to make my way back to the mall and get myself a few more to tide me over.

I should quit staring at my purse and get some sleep... maybe I'll blog again about the new one in the morning. :) Goodnight!

Mmmmmm Souuuuup!

It's cold. Brrrrr. I want soup. MMMMMM. I need to shop. I've got lots of food, but not really any soup stuff. I'm gonna be stuck with a can of Chunky, but you lucky readers could make THIS! Cauliflower Soup! It's easy and yummy and perfect for a cold day! It's also great reheated and freezes well. So here goes... try it and then come back and tell me if you like it!

Cauliflower Soup

Ingredients
Salt and pepper
A little Extra-virgin olive oil
3 tablespoons butter
2 small heads cauliflower (cut into smallish chunks)
3 ribs celery and leafy tops finely chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme leaves (IMO fresh thyme makes all the difference in this soup!)
2 tablespoons flour
1 quart chicken broth (I prefer the Swanson Low Sodium)
1 cup half-and-half or whole milk
I've added hot sauce, bacon, cheese, or ham other times I've made this also, but it's just as good without it.

Ok.. on to the cooking.
Get yourself a big pot. Put in about 2 T. of butter and the EVOO over medium heat. Add your cut up cauliflower. Add onion, thyme, and celery, cook for a few minutes. After 2-3 min, push everything to the side of the pot. In the empty space add the last T. of butter and melt it. When it's melted stir the flour into that butter making a rue (sp?). Then add the chicken broth and half-and-half and simmer until the cauliflower is semi-soft.

This is where I always make a gigantic mess. If you have one of those fancy immersion blenders- you can finally use it now! If, like me, you only blend daquiris and margaritas, go ahead and pull that blender out! I can't blend a whole pot at once so this is where I get out a series of big mixing bowls and blend, dump, blend, dump, till it's all done and I can put it back in the empty pot! I like to blend mine till it's smooth, but it's pretty good chunky too.

I. am. hungry.
I should've had dinner before I blogged this...

Anyway... I can't do a post without a little shameless self promotion... so here goes. I learned how to make frame purses and I whipped up a ton of them over the weekend! I thought it would be a short project, not an all day event. Looked like a fabric tornado came through here by the time I was done. I love how they turned out and I'm thinking of going on a little purse frame shopping spree here soon. Must. Make. More.

I'm not in a bloggy mood, really just wanted to get the recipe up for someone on the Etsy forums and hadn't blogged in a short eternity. Sooo I'm off... and I may be back tomorrow~~~
